Children's services chiefs are being called upon to share information about how their departments can deliver effective services while managing challenging budgets.

The Children’s Services Development Group (CSDG) and the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) has asked for directors of children’s services, lead members and commissioner to submit questions ahead of next week’s National Children and Adult Service Conference.

The groups will be hosting an event that aims to discuss how local authorities can benefit from partnerships within and outside of their council boundaries, how money can be saved in both the short and long term, and if strategic commissioning is possible with the "frontloaded" cuts.

The event will feed into the most recent project of the CSDG’s In it Together series, which aims to provide guidance to local authorities on how best to work in partnership to deliver services.
