Childminders allowed to open to one household

The Department for Education has confirmed that childminders are able to open to one household from today.

The last minute clarification comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s “roadmap” out of lockdown appeared to contradict the DfE's official guidance.

However, in a statement issued last night, a DfE spokesperson said: “In line with the Prime Minister’s drive to get more people back into work where possible and to align with the government’s position on nannies, we are updating our guidance for early years settings to be clear that paid childcare can be provided to the children of one household from Wednesday 13 May.
