Rise in social worker absences due to Covid-19

More councils reported high numbers of social workers not working due to Covid-19 last month following a fall since May, a Department for Education survey has found.

Four per cent of local authorities said more than 10 per cent of social worker  were not working due to the pandemic from 19 to 21 October, up from two per cent at the start of last month and one per cent in early September, the latest results from the DfE’s ongoing research into Covid-19’s impact on children’s services has shown.
