The Conservatives have proposed plans to ban "irresponsible" marketing techniques aimed at children.

Outlined in a document entitled Responsible Business, published yesterday, the Tories have set out plans to ban any company found by the Advertising Standards Agency to be in breach of rules governing marketing to children from bidding for government advertising contracts.

Proposals also include allowing headteachers and governors to ban advertising and vending machines in schools.
