This announcement has come despite the consultation around the measures outlined in the SEND and Alternative Provision green paper closing in July.

In announcing the timing of the government’s response, Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said that she wants “to understand the extensive feedback we received through the consultation”, before publishing a full response and improvement plan for SEND support.

She said: “This plan will reflect the feedback we have heard throughout the consultation and be clear on government’s next steps.

“It will focus on delivery; outlining the immediate steps we will be taking, and how we will ensure long-term sustainable systemic change.”
