Children's services professionals highlight key concerns during pandemic

Increased safeguarding risks, difficulties accessing support and the impact on mental health are some of the key issues children’s services professionals are concerned about during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to emerging research findings.

The ongoing survey, carried out by The Children’s Society, highlights issues affecting 122 frontline workers specialising in children’s social care, early years, safeguarding and protection, health, including mental health, education, youth services and family support.

The survey also notes areas of increased pressure on the families practitioners are supporting during the pandemic.

Here are some of the key areas highlighted by respondents:

A number of respondents said they had faced difficulties in reaching vulnerable children and young people during lockdown.
