Child swine flu vaccine likely to be tested

1 min read Early Years Health
Details of possible trials for a swine flu vaccine among children will be announced tomorrow, the Department of Health (DoH) has revealed.

The move comes on the back of reports on Monday that children aged between six months and 12 years old in five English cities could become the first to receive vaccines.

Bristol, Exeter, Oxford, Southampton and part of London were said to have been selected for voluntary trials beginning in September on 800 to 900 children.

A DoH spokeswoman was unable to confirm details of a trial but said an official announcement will be made tomorrow.

Last week, the DoH dismissed reports that a vaccination programme for all 8.5 million pupils in the UK would take place in schools, delivered by school nurses, health visitors and GPs.
