Charity pilots legal helpline for young people

The Children's Society is piloting an internet and phone service offering legal advice to young people.

The service, Lawyers for Young People, is aimed at all young people but will focus particularly on ensuring the most vulnerable have easier access to appropriate legal advice than is currently available.

Liz Fisher-Frank, principal solicitor at Lawyers for Young People, said: "I believe that many young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, are unable to access the legal representation that they desperately need. The pilot phase will give the unique opportunity to young people in these three areas to access high quality legal advice, whilst also helping us to establish the long-term viability of the project".
