
The Community Food Hub, based in Tottenham, saw demand for its services soar from 700 families signed up to 2,000 between March and August, it said.
The hub, which caters for 17 London boroughs, has seen as many as 20 new families sign up for support at each two-hour session, which takes place three times a week.
“The hub opens its doors several days a week to children and families surviving on a low or no income,” a spokesman said.
During a volunteer session in June, Labour MP for Tottenham David Lammy said it had “an atmosphere of love and generosity that is really remarkable to see.”
