The case studies are included in a joint report by the two groups called In it Together: Achieving Quality Outcomes for Young People with Complex Needs.
Services covered include foster care and residential children's homes as well as specialist schools and education services for children with learning difficulties.
Brian Jones, chief executive of Senad Group, which is part of the CSDG, said: "With local authorities facing real budgetary pressures over the coming years, providers and councils must meet the challenge of ensuring that financially efficient and high-quality services are delivered to the young people who rely on them to grow towards independence in adulthood."
