Care Review does not go far enough to support care leavers, charity claims

The Care Leavers’ Association (CLA) said that it is “disappointed” with the final recommendations to the government and that it has “missed the opportunity” to dramatically improve the lives of young people in care and care leavers. 

“The review does not focus sufficiently on the journey through care and into adulthood,” a CLA spokesperson said. 

The promise to “review the care system to make sure that all care placements and settings are providing children and young adults with the support they need”, as stated in the 2019 Conservative Party general election manifesto, has assumed a “low priority” within this review, the charity says.
