
The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is currently consulting on fresh guidance on the make-up of YOTs following concerns that managers are taking on additional responsibilities and partner agencies are not providing staff.
The Association of Youth Offending Team Managers (AYM) told CYP Now that the proposed guidance is not strong enough to address issues around statutory partners failing to provide seconded staff for YOTs.
Current legislation requires that specific officers from police, health, education and probation services are nominated or seconded to the YOT.
But in a survey by CYP Now last year, 15 per cent of YOTs reported not having representation from one or more of their statutory partners.
