Call for greater youth sector collaboration

1 min read Youth Work
Three major youth organisations have called for increased collaboration in the youth sector.

Ambition UK, the National Council of Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS), and UK Youth, said they want to begin a discussion within the sector as to how organisations can work more closely together to deliver high-quality services at a time when funding is being cut.

They said their aim is to "transform the sector" by creating more innovative ways of working. They will hold a series of six consultation meetings throughout November and December in Manchester, London and Windsor.

Susanne Rauprich, chief executive of NCVYS, said: “Better collaboration is vital at a time where many youth organisations struggle to secure a future.

“We need to rethink the way we support youth organisations and youth services. I am excited to work with Ambition and UK Youth in leading the process.”

Helen Marshall, chief executive of Ambition, added: “I urge others to join us in looking at opportunities to collaborate to offer more for young people whilst making the best use of staff expertise and resources.”

Anna Smee, chief executive of UK Youth, said: “There is a clear need for leadership and innovative thinking in the sector to overcome the obstacles local authorities and charities face in sustaining services for young people.

“By acting together we can fast track the development and adoption of ideas and solutions that will deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes for young people.”
