Bright Horizons buys Kidsunlimited

Early years chain Bright Horizons has acquired Kidsunlimited's 64 nurseries and childcare voucher operation.

The move takes Bright Horizon’s total number of early years settings to 200, offering places to 15,500 children.

Ros Marshall, chief executive of Kidsunlimited, said both organisations had lobbied together on government early years policy.

She added: “We share a very similar culture and approach to our nursery business, and our company values underpin a united purpose for our nurseries to provide rich learning and play experiences, which empower children to become confident, creative lifelong learners.”

Carole Edmond, Bright Horizons's managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: “We believe this will be a partnership that will benefit everyone.”

This latest move by Bright Horizons follows its acquisition of the Casterbridge chain of 27 nurseries last year.

The purchase of Kidsunlimited takes it closer in size to the UK’s largest nursery chain Busy Bees, which has 213 nurseries offering 19,500 places.
