
Following the investment, children’s services will account for 76 per cent of Blackpool’s overall budget - 28 per cent more than a decade ago.
Some £4m of the extra funding for children’s services will be used to recruit more social workers - boosting numbers by 30 per cent compared with last year.
A further £10m will be used to address the rising number of children in care, including an increase in children with complex needs.
Most recent government figures show that 184 out of 10,000 children in Blackpool are looked after.
The council has announced plans to axe 75 jobs while council tax is set to rise by 4 per cent in a bid to meet the savings target.
