Adoption UK found in its 2023 Adoption Barometer that adoptive parents believe the most significant challenge for their family is supporting their adopted children through education.

Supporting Care-Experienced Children is a free resource split into teacher training videos, based on using a trauma-informed approach, and a collection of real-life testimonies from young people.

The series of interactive video clips is designed to help teachers sensitively work with care-experienced children, Adoption UK’s education policy advisor Rebecca Brooks tells CYP Now.

“To be able to encapsulate some of the expertise from those who have done the research into the care-experienced education experience and are experts in the field into something that's engaging for teachers and can be used with young people, if done sensitively, is something that can be incredibly helpful in schools,” said Brooks.
