In his second letter to Barry Sheerman, chair of the Children, Schools and Families Select Committee, on the subject of the botched process, Balls said: “Everything possible is being done to ensure the remaining results get to schools.”
However, 16 per cent of Key Stage 3 English results and five per cent of Key Stage 3 maths and science results are almost one month overdue.
At Key Stage 2, one per cent of all results also remain unavailable to schools.
Despite this, the government plans to publish provisional results for Key Stage 2 and 3 SATs in August, following advice from Ofqual, the independent qualifications and exams regulator.
