Anne Longfield appointed to Bradford Children and Families Trust board

Former children’s commissioner for England Anne Longfield has been named as one of five directors appointed to a panel to oversee a new children’s trust in Bradford.

Bradford Children and Families Trust will take over responsibility for the area’s children’s services in April next year.

Longfield, who is now chair of the Commission on Young Lives, has been appointed as a non-executive director on the board alongside Nigel Richardson, former director of children’s services in Leeds, who now works as a children’s services consultant and commissioner for the Department for Education.

Other appointments to panel include Darra Singh, former chief executive of Luton Council, Ealing Council and JobCentre Plus, who is the son of first-generation migrants who moved to inner city Bradford from the Punjab in 1959, Tracey Dennison, who has 25 years’ experience across public services including as director of people at the London Borough of Camden and the Audit Commission and accountant Stuart Proud.
