Ambition chief executive set to join sexual health charity Brook

The chief executive of Ambition is to leave the organisation - the announcement coming just a week after it emerged that the youth charity is in merger talks.

Helen Marshall, who joined the national youth charity six years ago when it was known as Clubs for Young People, will leave in March.

She has been appointed as the new chief executive at youth sexual health charity Brook, and is due to take up post in April.

?“Leading Ambition has been hugely rewarding and I am really proud of everything we have achieved, from growing our national network to establishing quality at the heart of our work,” Marshall said.

??“I’m confident we will find a talented and inspiring leader to take Ambition forward at this crucial time for the youth sector.”??

The announcement comes after Ambition and the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) revealed last week that they are in talks over a possible merger.

Ambition has said the merger is still planned to go-ahead and it is hoping to appoint an interim chief executive to replace Marshall.??

“A final decision [on the merger] will be taken by both trustee boards in March, prior to Helen's departure,” a spokeswoman for Ambition said.

??She added that, from April, the interim chief executive will continue to lead the process until the permanent chief executive is in post.

??“We will want to make sure that we recruit a confident and inspiring leader to take Ambition forward at this crucial time for the youth sector," she added.
