President of the ADCS Steve Crocker outlined the Association's "significant concerns" about the government’s Illegal Migration Bill and the damaging effect it will have on children who are fleeing persecution, saying that, if implemented, the Bill will "irreversibly distort the care system".

The proposed legislation, introduced to Parliament earlier this month, would see people arriving in the UK illegally "detained and swiftly removed to their home country" if safe to do so, or another safe third country, such as Rwanda.

Unaccompanied asylum seeking children will not be removed to a safe third country, until adulthood, except in limited circumstances.
