
In his inaugural presidential address, Stuart Gallimore said seeking wider workforce development would be one of his main priorities during his year-long term, which began at the start of April.
"Over the last three and a half years, the Department for Education's social care reform programme has focused relentlessly on social work practice," said Gallimore, who has been director of children's services in East Sussex since 2014.
"I warmly welcome minister Zahawi's view that his office is an advocate for social workers, I am proud of my background as a social worker. But, there is a plethora of other roles in the wider children's workforce that are absolutely central to the endeavour of improving outcomes for children and families.
