
Zahawi said a taskforce of ten teams, backed by £500,000 in funding, would identify educational opportunities - which could be places or use of facilities - for young people in care.
The service will bring together 10 teams across the country into hubs comprising schools, councils, virtual school heads and social workers that will help find suitable places for children in care.
Zahawi was due to make the annoucement in a speech at the Association of Directors of Children's Service annual conference this week, calling on directors to help drive the programme forward and engage with the new teams to ensure councils could identify children who could benefit quickly.
