11 Million plans major restructure

11 Million, the office of the children's commissioner for England, has begun a major restructure in a bid to improve its policy expertise and reach to young people.

A staff consultation period kicked off last week and runs until 11 July. "The proposal is to restructure the organisation, which will entail adaptations and deletions of posts and potentially create new posts," said 11 Million chief executive Sue Berelowitz.

The organisation will create three principal policy posts covering social care, health and youth justice, adding to existing senior policy officers for children's rights and asylum-seeking children.

Berelowitz said the organisation was not looking to make cost savings through the restructure, as its annual budget remains stable at £3m. She added the proposal called for scrapping two vacant posts plus nine existing jobs, creating nine new jobs and adapting seven others. The jobs scrapped will cover roles in administration, policy and participation.
