In the middle of the general election campaign, entrepreneur Paul Lindley – founder of baby food brand Ella’s Kitchen – announced he was to co-chair a year-long commission on play alongside Anne Longfield, executive chair of the Commission for Young Lives.

The Raising the Nation Play Commission plans to lead a national conversation about how to encourage and support children to play more and develop a national play plan to influence future government policy. Its final report will be published on 11 June 2025, the International Day of Play, but interim findings across its seven core themes will be released throughout the year.
