It is now the largest charity in the UK offering this provision. Last year, it provided 88,119 grants or services worth over £33m to families across the UK. Family Fund receives applications directly from families and also accepts applications and referrals from third-party childcare professionals.
What does it fund?
Family Fund offers grants for families to buy items needed in helping them to care for their disabled child. It provides grants for a wide range of household items, including washing machines, furniture and computers.
As well as this, the money can fund sensory toys and outdoor play equipment. Funding is only offered where the request relates to the family's needs to care for a disabled, or seriously ill, child. This can include family holidays, or items to help with college for 16- and 17-year-olds.
