The book also highlights the commitment of both adoptive families and birth parents to ensure that contact remains beneficial to the children. The researchers admit that their study did not include the involvement of the children and that more research here would be helpful.

The research has, however, benefited from an advisory group of birth relatives, helping to ensure that the methods employed were accessible to birth parents and appropriately interpreted.
