
Leigh Middleton, new managing director of the National Youth Agency, has been working with young people since he was 15. After graduating with a degree in youth and community work from Reading University, he has fulfilled a number of statutory roles. Before joining the NYA in August, he was children, schools and families commissioning manager at Surrey County Council.
What made you decide to get into youth work?
I really loved the diversity of young people - their energy and, quite frankly, their cheekiness. What I loved about teenagers was you could have a really interesting debate and conversation with them about all sorts of things.
