ACTION

Last year, Acorns, part of the Children 1st group of nurseries, transformed an unused outdoor area to complete its “forestry learning zone” project.

The early years setting in Upper Tean was praised by Ofsted following an inspection some months later in November 2019 for its extensive learning opportunities, including its new outdoor learning space.

Rated consistently “outstanding” by Ofsted since 2012, inspectors noted how thrilled children were as they arrived at the setting each day.

“They thrive in the environment as staff provide a superb range of learning opportunities,” the inspection states. “The free-flow areas allow children to climb on a tractor and view birds.”
