Roy Pass is developing a young people's cabinet, which is looking at council spending.

- What were your ambitions when you were young?

I always enjoyed helping people. I did think about joining the police, but eventually went to study geography. I was always more interested in human geography and realised I wanted to work with people.

- What was your first job?

I was attracted to social work and did a couple of jobs including working as a housing officer with former offenders. Then I did a two-year social work qualification, eventually getting a community social work post in Wigan. There was a lot of one-to-one advice work but over time it became more about community development. I worked closely with the youth service on a few projects - the values fitted together very well.
