One of the obvious issues with the evolution of youth work's engagement with social media is that it takes a while for a critical mass of sophisticated users to emerge. Time will no doubt take care of this. In five years' time, the next generation of youth workers probably won't be able to conceive of life without Bebo and it will probably be second nature to create a Wiki on running a residential or to put a Twitter message about the fundraiser at the youth centre on Friday. The rest of us might have to work a bit harder to get up to speed.
