Lessons from serious case reviews: Childhood neglect

The NSPCC has analysed evidence from serious case reviews to identify learning. This issue we look at the risk factors and learning for improved practice around neglect of children and young people.

Neglect is a serious form of harm and is a factor in 60 per cent of serious case reviews.

Both families and professionals can become overwhelmed and demoralised by issues of neglect. Children may experience repeated attempts by professionals to try to improve the situation.
