How important is early education to Ofsted?

Early education has always been an important aspect of our work. What children learn when young gives them the building blocks for future success. However, we are acutely aware of the challenges early years settings face while trying to help children catch up with their development and learning after the pandemic.

Our new strategy recognises the importance of early years education and how our work and insights can support practitioners to deliver the best start in life for all children. For example, this new research review identifies what high-quality early years education may look like (see below).
