A hard-hitting new play is touring schools and youth clubs to raise awareness of the grooming and sexual exploitation of young people. Eileen Fursland explores its impact in tackling this complex problem.

There is a buzz in the air at Harrytown Roman Catholic High School in Stockport as 160 Year 10 pupils file into the school hall, sit down and wait for the performance to begin. It is not an average assembly or talk - the 15-year-olds are here to watch a powerful new play about grooming and child sexual exploitation.

There is not much in the way of scenery and props, but the five actors, each playing multiple roles, vividly portray the story of 15-year-old Chloe, a girl from an ordinary family with caring parents, who is groomed and then exploited by 30-year-old Adeem.
