Kate Hersov co-founded a company that publishes medical information for children and their parents.

What do you do?

With my colleague Dr Kim Chilman-Blair, I co-founded a company that publishes medical information for children and their parents. Medikidz uses superhero characters in comic books and online to make patient information more engaging. At the moment my role is everything from cleaning the office to meeting hospital chief executives. We have recently launched the first comic books covering a range of conditions, as well as our website.

How did you end up doing this?

Kim and I were at medical school in New Zealand and both worked in paediatrics. We realised that there was nothing to help explain a diagnosis to children. Everything is targeted at parents, it's a global problem.
