Young people are disproportionately affected by low wages and unpaid work, so youth organisations have a responsibility to lead the way by paying the real Living Wage and changing unfair practices

In 2017, Youth Music became the first Living Wage Funder in the arts and culture sector. We pay the real Living Wage or higher to all our employees and encourage the 350 music-making organisations we support each year through our grants programme to do the same, thanks to funding from the National Lottery via Arts Council England. Last month, we received recognition at the Living Wage Foundation's annual Champion Awards for our advocacy work both with the projects we support, and beyond in the cultural and funding sectors. We used the opportunity to call for an end to unpaid internships in the music industry.
