Parent-infant relationships and infant mental health are receiving increased policy focus across the UK. In England, Dame Andrea Leadsom has championed the importance of early relationships and development, leading to a £300m family hubs and Start for Life investment over three years in 75 local authorities. In Scotland, every health board has received seed funding over the last few years to set up a specialist infant mental health service. In Wales, the importance of parent-infant relationships features in the new national model for developing mental health, wellbeing and support services for babies, children and young people. It is hoped that infant mental health will also feature in the new Wales 10-year mental health strategy, as it already does in Northern Ireland's mental health strategy.
