ChildRIGHT: Interview - Get it right from the start

- Can you tell us about your report?

One of the things I found really interesting was you can predict where children will end up; if they will become really successful, or if they will struggle and fail. The image of schools widening opportunities was misleading, as children are divided in the first stages of life.

I spoke to head teachers and staff about what they wanted from children in schools and the results were quite shocking. They listed things like sitting still, speaking not grunting, to know the word "stop", knowing their own names, knowing what a book is and the ability to be able to hold a conversation.
