Achieving Early Years Professional Status

Oh how I wish I had bought Denise Reardon's book before I embarked on my training. It provides a clear introduction to the Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) by describing the available pathways, and explaining the 39 Children's Workforce Development Council national standards and the validation process. It describes how early years professionals (EYP) are seen as change agents or cheerleaders who will make the government's early years transformation agenda happen.

With the requirement for an EYP in every full daycare setting by 2015, this book is a useful resource for candidates starting out on any of the pathways. Organised in a way that takes the reader on a reflective journey through their leadership role, decision-making abilities and ways that they can communicate change and promote effective practice in others, the reader can work through the book chapter by chapter. It leads them through the whole EYPS process including the assessment procedure, written tasks and visiting a setting.
