Embedding financial education in youth work

Has financial education just become mainstream? There were high-fives all round at the CYP Now Awards ceremony last week when financial education charity MyBnk scooped the Children and Young People’s Charity Award. Congratulations and all power to it for delivering financial and enterprise education relevant to and empowering for young people.

It does feel significant that of all the great projects up for the awards, the winner comes from what used to be a marginal and specialist category of work with young people. It is a boost for the sector, not just richly deserved recognition for MyBnk.

So as those at MyBnk relax in the warm, cosy glow of national recognition, it feels like a good time to list reasons why financial education and youth work are just made for each other.
