In York, the local authority, City of York Council, has been conducting a review and restructures exercise in the Early Years Services of the authority. One can say that is not surprising due to the cutbacks in government and local government spending, any exercise that cuts out waste and excess has my support. I sometimes ask the question why these exercises only ever seem to be conducted during times of financial constraint, maybe some government and local government departments could have a few conducted during more prosperous times and save money then.
Let's hope these changes are successful and the children in our community benefit from these restructures and cost saving excercises and it's not just about saving money or window dressing, making change just for change's sake.
