I wanted to see Samantha Morton's The Unloved (she was great in Morvern Callar) - maybe I'll be able to catch it on Channel 4 On Demand. One of our eagle-eyed reporters did watch it last night, and can report that in one scene set in a children's home an inclusion poster produced by CYP Now's predecessor Children Now was tacked up on the wall. Fame at last!
I have to admit to not having caught as much of Channel 4's Britain's Forgotten Children season as I wanted to, although I did watch the Dispatches programme looking at different elements of the care system - kinship care, residential homes, fostering, social pedagogy etc. I thought overall it was quite fair, for example residential care got a bit of a bashing but then it looked at an Essex children's home that was working hard to keep in touch with former residents, and all the issues were covered, in a kind of checklist way.
