In May 2017, an Ofsted inspection report of children’s services in Warwickshire highlighted concerns over workload pressures in the department and thresholds for intervening with families. The resulting “requires improvement” judgment was soon followed by a change in leadership – Nigel Minns replaced John Dixon as strategic director for people in September 2017 – and the launch of an improvement plan for children’s services.
