Young leaders work together with girls to campaign on themes like the environment and promoting democracy - Girlguiding

Name: Girlguiding Young Leaders development programme

Provider: Girlguiding

To mark Volunteers’ Week, CYP Now spoke to young people and staff at Girlguiding to hear about the importance of young leaders.

Girlguiding is the UK’s largest uniformed youth organisation just for girls and young women, offering face-to-face clubs and projects for girls across the country.

Girlguiding supports girls to act as leaders in their peer groups and co-ordinate activities, set out in their new Young Leader development programme. The programme is a personalised leadership journey co-produced by young people that launched in June 2024.

Young leaders are responsible for engaging with other girls, facilitating activities and supporting adult leaders with the running of the group.
