Parenthood changed career plans

I never set out to be a teacher. I had much grander plans – or so I thought. I wanted to be a lawyer then a director, then a film producer. I thought those were terribly exciting professions and I had a go at all of them.

When I had my first child something strange happened: I realised how precious my child was to me and that every child should be considered special.

I started to think about the teachers my child would meet and how I would be eternally grateful for the support and instruction they would be giving him.
