The Little Minds Matter scheme works with parents who have health needs to help families re-engage with society

Project Little Minds Matter

Purpose To reduce the risk of children developing mental health problems by working with new and expectant parents who have mental health needs

Funding Little Minds Matter costs about £200,000 a year to run. It is funded from Portsmouth City Council’s children’s centre budget and supported by Solent NHS Trust

Background Mothers’ mental health is closely connected to infant mental health. Therefore, if a parent has mental health problems, such as depression, it can have a major impact on the mental wellbeing of their baby, which may ripple into later life. Little Minds Matter is a scheme designed to stop this cycle.
