Funding The project was kick-started with a Think Family Grant from the then Department for Children, Schools and Families. Ongoing funding from Walsall Council is set to be boosted by an Early Intervention Grant

Purpose To work with families to prevent children from being placed in care

Background The decision to place a child in care is traumatic for them and often devastating for their family. A place in care can also be expensive. This is why Walsall Council opted for a shake-up of its approach to supporting some of the most vulnerable families whose children were "on the edge of care" as part of a council-wide Working Smarter scheme to improve the efficiency of services.
