2 mins read Courses and training
Central Bedfordshire Council has launched a virtual learning environment for the professional development of its children's services workforce as part of a bid to become an outstanding local authority through improving the skills of its staff.

Name: Academy of Social Work and Early Intervention

Provider: Central Bedfordshire Council

Central Bedfordshire's Academy of Social Work and Early Intervention, a joint venture between the authority and the University of Bedfordshire, is designed to provide training and learning opportunities for early years and social care staff working within the authority's children's services.

The aim of the initiative is to equip all staff with up-to-date knowledge and skills so that they can provide high-quality, co-ordinated support to families living in the region.

Gerard Jones, assistant director of children's services operations at Central Bedfordshire Council, hopes the academy will also play a key part in tackling the issue of recruitment and retention of children's social workers.
