Just days after members of the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) came together in the House of Commons to debate key issues affecting young people, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) moved to “relaunch” the programme, with a tender that aims to expand the UKYP’s diversity and reach.

The announcement follows the DCMS Youth Directorate’s review of its youth engagement strategy, which involved consultation with young people and youth work organisations about the programme.

The reformed youth engagement grant allocates up to £750,000, to be spent over two years, to the successful bidding organisation to run the UKYP programme.

A DCMS breakdown of the total grant shows that £650,000 is available for core costs, and up to £100,000 to enable young people from devolved nations to take part.
