Toolkit aims to spread innovative practice in leaving care services

A toolkit that helps organisations supporting care leavers to improve support services has been developed by academics, campaigners and people with care experience.

The Implementation Toolkit helps local authorities, care homes, charities and organisations working in the care sector to implement new ideas that will improve their service without delay – or as the organisers say, “getting stuck with ‘pilotitis’ [and] never seeing the light of day after numerous trials”.

The toolkit, designed by Warwick Business School, has been produced as part of a four-year research project in collaboration with the Care Leavers’ Association alongside charities Barnardo’s and the National House Project, which also involved former care leavers.

Removing barriers

Graeme Currie, Professor of public management at Warwick Business School, says the project was designed to remove the barriers to putting innovative ideas for improving support for care leavers into practice.
