YCAs provide a platform for young people to help shape public and civic policy and influence decisions. There are YCAs in London, South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and the West Midlands. The five YCAs are affiliated – called M5 – with the aim of working together on trans-regional issues.

Other YCAs are planned in West Yorkshire, the South West and North of Tyne. For the Liverpool YCA, 25 young people aged 13 to 25 have been chosen to represent local authority areas which make up the City Region Combined Authority.

The group, which includes representatives with special educational needs and disabilities will meet monthly, mostly online, to consider issues such as transport, economic development, housing, jobs and skills, the environment, digital connectivity and culture.
